PRIVACY
- Students, Parents, and Teachers will identify students by their first names only. (Parents- please identify yourself as ___your child’s name ‘s____ parent)
o “Hi this is Jane’s Mom, I love this class blog, it’s so great to see the updates!” GOOD!!
o “Hi this is Mrs. Smith, Jane’s Mom, I love this class blog, it’s so great to see the updates” BAD!!!
- Do not post any personal information in blog posts or comments. This includes email address, AIM, instagram, phone number, home address, or places and dates you can be found. If you are unsure if something is considered personal information, it’s best not to share it—or ask your teacher!
o Sorry, I can’t give out any personal information on the internet” GOOD!!
o “Follow me in instagram—Ridergurl14” BAD!!!
o “I play soccer after school each week” GOOD!!
o “I have soccer practice every Tuesday at 4:30 at the YMCA” BAD!!!
o “I live in Connecticut” GOOD!!
o “I live at 14 Sunnyville Road, Hartford CT” BAD!!!
· BEHAVIOR
- Respectful, supportive, polite posts are allowed. We have spent a lot of time this year talking about good manners in our classroom-- this extends to our online classroom community as well!!
- Try your best not to offend anyone in your posts. Rude bloggers will be suspended from our site.
- Post meaningful comments—No, “Hi! Please check out my blog! Bye!” comments. Be thoughtful.

LANGUAGE
- Proof read your posts and comments! Aim for correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. (TIP: Copy and paste your post into a Word document, or use spell check to proof read your writing
- No texting language allowed- lol, i, u, omg, 2, etc
- No using curse words or fowl language.
- Posts will be checked by teacher before publicly published
- All comments must have teacher approval first
This rules will be explicitly taught and shared with students. While talking to students about blogging guidelines, I will provide many examples of what is appropriate, and what is inappropriate
